The announcement came from an email from EA warning users that any leftover points in their account will be removed come October. Other currencies like Crystals (for Star Wars: Battlefront 2) and Platinum (for Dragon Age: Inquisition) remain unaffected, as this is only to do with BioWare Points. Also, all the DLC is already bundled with the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, so if you grabbed your free copy yesterday then you don't need to worry about redeeming your free DLCs for the original games before they were remastered. This only affects DLC for Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age: Origins, and Dragon Age 2.
But instead of restricting access to the old DLCs, EA is making them completely free to download. Starting October 11th 2022, these points will no longer be available. Thankfully, and we can't believe we’re saying this, EA has actually done a good thing in regards to old DLC…Ī while ago, the only way you could buy DLC for the original Mass Effect and Dragon Age games was with BioWare Points. Game preservation has been a major talking point in the last couple of weeks, mostly thanks to Ubisoft’s decommissioning of online services in old titles, rendering DLC and even whole games unplayable even if you already owned them.
